When developing a shoe for gravity mountain biking, the feedback Fizik received from top pros was clear: whether downhill or enduro riders, they all wanted a shoe that enhanced bike control through the pedals with protection and durability.

But beyond control, they also wanted the lightweight feel and precise fit of higher-performance shoes, a combination lacking in most gravity MTB shoes. So, Fizik set out to create something unique: a race shoe that was light and agile yet robust enough to meet all the demands of leading gravity, downhill, and enduro riders.

Sole and Ride Control

It all starts with the sole. Beyond the handlebars, the feet are one of the most important contact points with the bike when riding. The Gravita outsole provides the immediate shoe-to-pedal connection needed for fast and aggressive gravity riding, combining the stickiest Vibram XS Trek Evo rubber compound with a specific zonal lug pattern. A low-profile, tapered lug pattern in the mid-foot immediately connects with the pedal pins for optimal mechanical interface, while deeper, sharper lugs under the heel and toe provide better ground traction for hiking.

Compared to the flat version, this clipless version is stiffer to aid in more efficient power transfer throughout the entire pedal stroke, improving pedaling efficiency. The clipless version features an extended cleat track, allowing you to run your cleats further back for a more "heels-down" stance on descents, increasing stability and control, much like riding flat pedals.

Performance-Oriented, Precise Fit

Both downhill and enduro racing are characterized by short, intense, and powerful pedaling efforts, whether sprinting out of the start gate or nearing the finish line. Providing the right amount of foot tension and fit is key to effectively transmitting every watt of power. To avoid wasted power, we utilized decades of design experience and knowledge of proper cycling shoes. For the Tensor, we developed an ergonomic lacing pattern that wraps the foot and evenly distributes tension during pedaling.
