When developing a shoe for gravity mountain biking, the feedback Fizik received from top pros was clear: both downhill and enduro riders wanted a shoe that offered protection and durability to enhance bike control through the pedals.

But beyond control, they also desired the lightweight and precise fit found in higher-performance shoes, a combination lacking in most gravity mountain biking shoes. So, Fizik set out to create something unique: a lightweight and agile yet robust and durable race shoe that satisfied all the demands of leading gravity, downhill, and enduro riders.

Outsole and ride control

It starts from the bottom. Along with your hands on the handlebars, your feet are one of the most crucial contact points with the bike when riding. The Gravita outsole provides the upper-to-pedal contact needed for fast and aggressive gravity riding, combining Vibram's stickiest XS Trek Evo rubber compound and specific zonal lug patterns. A low-profile, tapered lug pattern at the mid-foot allows for immediate connection with the pedal pins for an optimal mechanical interface, while under the heel and toe, a deeper, sharper pattern provides better grip for hiking.

Compared to the flat version, this clipless version is stiffer, which helps to increase power transfer efficiency throughout the pedal stroke for improved pedaling efficiency. The clipless version features an extended cleat track, allowing you to run your cleats further back for a more rearward, downhill-oriented stance, increasing stability and control, much like riding flat pedals.

Performance-oriented precise fit

Both downhill and enduro racing are characterized by short, intense, and powerful pedaling actions, whether it's for sprinting out of the starting gate or approaching the finish line. Providing the right foot tension and fit is key to effectively transmitting every watt of power. To avoid wasted power, we utilized decades of design experience and knowledge of proper cycling shoes. For the Tensor, we developed an ergonomic lace pattern that wraps the foot and evenly distributes tension during pedaling.
